FREEPORT — Georgia Hindley, age 87, died at her home on Saturday, March 7, 2015, with family by her side.

She was born on June 1, 1927, in Topsham, ME, a daughter of Albert and Abigail Snow Merriman. She was a graduate of Freeport High School and the Farmington Normal School. She married Edward Bowen Hindley in Freeport on Sept. 7, 1957.

Mrs. Hindley taught home economics at Freeport High School for 20 years. She had been a member of the Maine State Teachers Association. She was a constant support to various booster clubs, including everything from fundraising to washing band uniforms; if it needed doing she was ready to be helpful in anyway.

After retiring from teaching, she entered a second vocation as a seamstress in the alterations department for L.L. Bean in Freeport for another 20 years. Her second retirement came at the age of 82.

She enjoyed her sewing, as well as her painting. Above all else, she found the most satisfaction helping others whenever she could.
