BRUNSWICK — Curtis Memorial Library’s Tech Meetup Spring brown bag lunch series begins Friday. In this series, Curtis will use certain parts of the Maine State Library’s MARVEL! collection of databases as our springboard for explorations in locating information on various topics.

The brown bag lunch Tech Meetup series meets every other Friday at noon. The regular spring lineup covers the following:

. March 13 — Sarah Brown, Reference Librarian and crafter, will offer an introduction to the Crafts and Hobbies database in MARVEL! Included in the talk will be using Pinterest and YouTube to find craft/hobby instructions or suggestions.

. March 27 — Finding articles from Consumer Reports in MARVEL! as well using the Consumer’s Union website and other consumer information sites.

. April 10 — An introduction to the Learning Express database in MARVEL!, which aids in study and provides practice tests for ASVAB, SAT, GED, GRD, and a wide variety of occupational exams. Also included will be discussion about tech tool education in Learning Express and elsewhere.

. April 24 — For scholarly pursuits: An intro to MARVEL!’ s Academic Search Premier and Points of View databases, then on to Google Scholar, and other search engines.

. May 1 — A special bonus session with guest Steven Blanc, information and technology security officer at Bowdoin College. Blanc will discuss what can be done to protect the privacy of people’s data in today’s increasingly digital world.
