SANFORD — Lorraine M. Dubois, 83, of Sanford, died on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Lorraine was born on April 19, 1931 to Amedee and Louisa (Morin) Fleurant in Sanford, where she grew up and attended local schools.

When she was a young woman, she was employed at the local mills, where she worked until leaving to make a home for her family. In 1950 she married George Dubois, and together they had five children and shared 52 years of marriage until his death in 2002.

Lorraine was a devout Catholic and had been a member of Notre Dame Church, St. Thérése of Lisieux Parish in Springvale. She had also been a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and volunteered for the Notre Dame bereavement committee.

She loved going fishing, sewing and spending time with family and friends. She was a very loving woman who made it a point to hug people whenever the opportunity presented itself by asking, “Can I have a hug?” She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Lorraine is preceded in death by: her husband, George L. Dubois; and two sons, Patrick George Dubois, and David Michael Dubois.

She is survived by: three children, Mark S. Dubois of Springvale, Elaine M. Sevigny and her husband Edwin of Springvale, and Jocelyn B. Hartford and her husband Brion of Sanford; her longtime companion, Noe R. Labbe Jr. of Sanford; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Friday, March 13 at St. Thérése of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, located on Payne Street in Springvale. Interment will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
