
Miller recorded a time of 15:52.4 in the 5K freestyle race to take 30th overall and third among New England Small College Athletic Conference competitors.
The winning time of 14:21.4 was set by Veronika Mayerhofer of the University of Utah.
Action continues today with the 15K classic race. The mass start was slated to begin at 10 a.m.
Men’s lacrosse
Due to the anticipation of poor weather later in the day, Saturday’s men’s lacrosse game between Bowdoin and Hamilton has been moved up to 10:30 a.m.
The contest was originally scheduledfora1p.m.start.
Hamilton is 1-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, 3-1 overall, while Bowdoin is 0-3, 0-2 in NESCAC play.
Softball
Julia Geaumont pitched a onehitter and launched a two-run home run as Bowdoin rolled to a 7-1 win over Wesleyan on Wednesday in Clermont, Fla.
Geaumont walked seven and struck out four in going the distance.
Claire McCarthy singled twice and doubled for the Polar Bears ( 2- 0), while Adriane Krul and Emily Griffin each singled twice.
Bowdoin is slated to face Minot State and Simmons today.
Tennis
Tess Trinka clinched the win for the Bowdoin College women’s tennis team as the Polar Bears picked up a 5-4 win over Washington University of St. Louis on Wednesday in Palm Springs, Calif.
Bowdoin led 4-3 when Trinka won her No. 3 singles match to secure the win.
The sixth-ranked Polar Bears held on for the win after sweeping doubles play, 3-0. The 10th-ranked Bears of Washington University clawed back with wins at No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 singles.
Trinka and Joulia Linkhanskaia combined at No. 1 doubles for a hard fought 9-8 (2) victory. Both Emma Chow and Kira Silitch at No. 2, and Pilar Giffenig and Tiffany Cheng at No. 3 won by 8-3 margins.
Cheng dispatched her opponent in No. 2 singles in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-2. Trinka fought back from a 3-6 opening set to finish off a 6-3, 6-1 win.
In men’s action on Wednesday, Bowdoin dropped its first match of the season with a 5-4 setback to Pomona Pitzer.
The 15th-ranked Sagehens improved to 8-2, while the 18thranked
Polar Bears fell to 2-1.
Pomona-Pitzer seemed to have the match in control after sweeping doubles and taking a 3-0 lead into singles play. Bowdoin came out on fire in singles and came all the way back to tie the score 4-4.
The Polar Bears got tremendous contributions from the bottom of the lineup, sweeping spots 3-6. All of them came via straight-set wins as Kyle Wolfe (6-0, 6-4), Chase Savage (6-1, 6-0), Luke Tercek (6-1, 6-2) and Gil Roddy (6-3, 6-3) evened the match for the Polar Bears.
It came down to a hard-fought battle at No. 1 singles between Bowdoin’s Luke Trinka and Pomana Pitzer’s Connor Hudson, who claimed the match, 5-7, 6-3, 6- 2.
The Bowdoin men return to action on Saturday against Whittier.
