BRUNSWICK — Louise W. Sheppard, 88, of Brunswick, died at her home on March 10.

Sheppard was born Oct. 30, 1926, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Ralph and Edith Wood. She graduated from Swarthmore High School in Pennsylvania, and then studied at the University of New Hampshire for two years.

She later received certification as an occupational therapy assistant from St. Mary’s Junior College. She then worked for five years in the activities department of a residence for the elderly.

Louise met her husband, Bob, while in high school. The couple was married in 1947, and enjoyed 64 years of marriage together.

After living in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, they moved in 1959 to St. Paul, Minnesota, where they raised their two children. In retirement, they moved to North Carolina and then to Maine in 2004.

Sheppard was very creative and artistic, and enjoyed painting, flower arranging, gardening, outdoor activities, fiber arts and baking. Most of all, she was devoted to her family, and loved playing with her children.

Survivors include a son, Rob Sheppard, and his wife, Vicky, of Lomita, California; a daughter, Judy Segal, and her husband, Ken, of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Sammi and Adam Sheppard, of California, and Christine Twining and her husband, Ben, of Brunswick; and three great-grandchildren, Semma, Oscar and Nathaniel Twining.

A memorial service was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church, 84 Main St., Topsham.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations in Sheppard’s name may be made to Habitat for Humanity/Seven Rivers Maine, 126 Main St., Topsham, ME 04086, or to Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 211, Topsham, ME 04086.
