BIDDEFORD — The Maine Department of Transportation and the city will continue the reconstruction work on Elm and West streets during the 2015 construction season.
The Elm Street project will continue repaving along Elm Street, from Union Street to the Saco city line. Portions of the project may require night work due to the high traffic volumes along Elm Street. Additional utility work is anticipated in advance of the paving efforts.
The West Street project will repave West Street, from the Route 1 intersection at Five Points to 1/2 mile east of Bernard Avenue with ancillary safety improvements to the intersection at Route 1/Elm Street.
All questions related to the scope, schedule or construction should be directed to MDOT Project Manager Denis Lovely at the Scarborough Region One Office at 885-7000. Local concerns can be directed to Planning Engineer Jennie Franceschi at 284-9115.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
