Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration has awarded $1.3 million in grant funding for York County Community Action Corporation for health care services.
YCCAC executive director Barbara Crider said the grant is continuing funding.
Based in Sanford, the York County Community Action Corporation has served York County residents since 1965, offering an array of services to more than 20,000 low-income county residents each year. The organization’s primary health center, Nasson Health Center in Springvale, provides medical, dental, and behavioral services. The organization also has a school-based health center at Noble High School in North Berwick and a site at the York County Shelter in Alfred. YCCAC serves approximately 3,000 people at its three health sites.
The grant funding for YCCAC is an annual award in a three year cycle, implemented through the Health Center Cluster Grant Program under the Affordable Care Act.
