FALL RIVER, MA — Francis Nagy, of 26 Biron Ave., Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Francis was born in Budapest, Hungary.

After participating in the 1956 Hungarian revolution and fleeing to Austria, he immigrated to the United States in 1957. He resided in Philadelphia prior to joining the United States Navy in 1959. During his Naval career he spent 14 of his 20 years assigned to ships and was involved in the Vietnam War.

Following his retirement from the military, Francis accepted a job at Bath Iron Works shipyard where he worked for another 25 years. During his time at Bath, he acquired numerous lasting friendships.

After retirement from BIW, he worked part-time for Louis Chevrolet. Francis received an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maine while working at Bath Iron Works. When not at work, he enjoyed taking trips to Jackman and resting. His love of teasing will leave lasting memories. Francis loved the beach, doing crossword puzzles and was passionate about overindulging his soulmate and loving wife of 48 years, Irene. He was a wonderful loving father always placing others’ needs before his own.

He was predeceased by his wife, Irene, on Nov. 19, 2014. He is survived by five siblings, Dr. Anna Nagy, M.D.; Dr. Ilona Nagy, Ph.D.; Fruzsina Pruzsinszky; Dr. Sandor Pruzsinszky, D.V.M.; and Margit Janki. He is also survived by his son Francis Nagy, daughter Cdr. Sylvia I. Nagy, D.M.D., and her spouse Capt. Joe N. Stafford (retired), and daughter Victoria. He leaves behind his six beloved grandchildren.

Funeral services honoring Frank’s life will be held Thursday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Mausoleum Chapel concluding with military honors.

Memorial donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Maine Veteran’s Home, 477 High St., South Paris, ME 04281.

Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, April 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
