Richard F. Conlan, 74, passed away on April 10, 2015 at Seal Rock Nursing Home.

He was born on May 7, 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Alfred and Catherine (MacArthur) Conlan.

He grew up in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge High and Latin in 1958. He attended Boston University before joining the U.S. Army.

During his youth and teen years, he enjoyed his summers in Ocean Park. He was a lifeguard at the Royal Ambassadors Boys’ Camp in his late teens. His love of Ocean Park continued throughout his life. He met his wife, Noreen Tackaberry, in 1964 in Ocean Park and they were married in 1965 at the Montreal Citadel Corps of the Salvation Army in Montreal, Quebec.

They first resided in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and then, after the birth of their second child, moved to Reading, Massachusetts, where they raised their three children. Upon retirement, after 38 years in Reading, they moved permanently to Ocean Park.

During his life he spent many years in banking ”“ first at The Home Savings Bank in Boston, and then at Everett Savings Bank, which later became Eagle Bank. While working at these banks, he also served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 29 years, retiring as a master Sergeant.

He was a past master of Joseph Webb Lodge, AF & AM in Boston. He was a member and deacon of the First Congregational Church of Reading. After retiring to Ocean Park, he joined his wife in attending The Salvation Army Corps in Old Orchard Beach.

During his children’s youth, he coached Little League baseball, hockey and soccer. He also was very involved with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, climbing Mt. Washington with a group of the older boys.

He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Noreen; their two sons, Richard Conlan and his wife Maura of Melrose, Massachusetts, and Robert Conlan and his wife Jessica of Jacksonville, Florida; their daughter, Deborah Severance of Derry, New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Sean, Patrick and Meagan Conlan, and Kaitlyn, Jillian and Kyle Severance; one brother, William and his wife Martha Conlan of Old Orchard Beach; and his brother-in-law, William Tackaberry and his wife Karen of Campbellville, Ontario. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 13, with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m., at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the Salvation Army Old Orchard Beach Corps, 2 Sixth St., Old Orchard Beach. Burial with military honors will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
