PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defensemen Brian Dumoulin and Scott Harrington from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced Sunday by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
Both players have spent a majority of the season helping WBS allow the fewest goals (153) in the AHL, while also seeing NHL minutes in Pittsburgh.
Dumoulin, a Biddeford native, scored his first NHL goal in Pittsburgh’s 4-2 win against Tampa Bay on Dec. 15. In that game, both Dumoulin and fellow rookie Bryan Rust scored their first goals. Dumoulin has played in 14 NHL regular-season games the last two years, posting two points and a plus-1 rating.
This season, Dumoulin leads all WBS defensemen in assists (29) and points (33) in 62 games. His plus-25 is second on the club and fourth-highest total in the AHL.
Dumoulin has helped WBS advance to back-to-back conference finals, tallying 20 points in 32 playoff games.
