PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s spring turkey hunt begins in three weeks.
The spring tradition gets underway May 4 all over the state. Hunters can shoot wild turkey using bow and arrow, crossbow or shotgun until June 6. Only bearded turkeys can be harvested in the spring.
Hunters in most of the state are limited to two wild turkeys. Hunters in seven wildlife management districts located in far northern and western Maine can take only one.
There is also a Youth Spring Wild Turkey day on May 2. The fall wild turkey hunt takes place in October.
