SANFORD — Edith M. Guay, 74, of West Newfield, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.

She was born in Canada on Jan. 23, 1941, the daughter of Gilbert and Lillian Bernier Morin. She was educated and graduated from the Baxter School for the Deaf in Portland and attended hairdressing and cosmetology school in Lewiston.

On June 30, 1962, she married Oscar J. Guay in St. Ann’s Church in Lisbon Falls.

Mrs. Guay worked a little while as a hairdresser and later worked 39 years at West Point Pepperell in Biddeford until retiring in 1999.

She enjoyed her personal computer, knitting, crocheting, cake decorating, doing home crafts, dining with her husband and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Maine Deaf Senior Citizens in Westbrook.

She is survived by: her husband of 52 years of West Newfield; a son, Perry Guay and his wife Kim of West Newfield; two daughters, Connie Lebel and her husband Mark of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Sophia Wormwood and her husband Roger of Arundel; three brothers, Gilbert Morin Jr., Dan Morin, and Don Morin; three sisters, Nancy Windle, Linda Verrill, and Annette Clark; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 17 at Hope Memorial Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford at a later date.
