FREEPORT — Wayne A. Hollingworth, of Freeport, Maine, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2015, after a long illness, at Maine Medical Center with friends at his bedside.

Wayne was born on Feb. 26, 1935, in Providence, RI, to Robert and Ruth Hollingworth. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. After living in NYC, he settled in Freeport. Wayne served as a counselor in the Aspire Program in Lewiston. He loved folk music and working with wood, participating in local and state politics, and fighting for union rights.

Wayne attended the Durham Friends Meeting. Wayne made an impact on many lives. As one friend said; “He left a very wide swath of goodness in this world.”

A celebration service will be Saturday, May 9, at 1 p.m. at Freeport Community Services, 53 Depot St., Freeport. Donations can be made to Freeport Community Services, P.O.
