Mr. Vasalle claims that our governor does not have a mandate and that it will be necessary for him to compromise his principles upon which he has based his agenda.
Let’s for a moment suppose that there is a mandate for the agenda for the governor and the legislature, just like the agenda of the state governments before him. It was an agenda of tax and spend Maine into the poor house.
The governor was left with a real can of worms and he is cleaning it up. And the work required, the belt tightening, is making some folks moan and groan. But, it is working and will keep working. It will keep working only as long as he is not required to “compromise” with the tax and spend crowd.
Additionally, he mentions the Founding Fathers but fails to mention that they abhorred “democracy,” otherwise known as mob rule.
Sadly, the mob is comprised of societal parasites and those who want to take money from working citizens to give it to a bunch of freeloaders. Never forget, liberals will spend your tax money liberally.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
