From Staff Reports
OLD ORCHARD BEACH — A blaze earlier this week at a seasonal hotel was deemed an electrical fire.
The fire was reported Wednesday around 1:30 a.m. at America’s Best Value Inn, 30 West Grand Ave.
It was under control within half an hour, and damaged two units, said Fire Chief Ricky Plummer.
Plummer said Thursday the fire was caused when a screw placed through sheet rock and embedded in electrical wiring heated up.
Plummer said the screw had been placed at a stud in the wall, but the wiring, which is typically placed beside a stud, had been placed on top of the stud.
Plummer said the hotel should be able to open as planned for the summer season.
