BIDDEFORD — Gabrielle Tardiff, 87, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 in Vero Beach, Florida after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She previously resided in Biddeford Pool.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1927 in Biddeford to John and Albertine Frechette.

On Aug. 20, 1949 she married Hervey Tardiff. They were married 45 years, until his death on June 14, 1994.

Although they never had children of their own, their nieces and nephews filled that void.

Gaby, as she was known, worked for many years at Monsanto in Massachusetts, as an office manager until her retirement. Her favorite things to do were sports. Golfing was her and Hervey’s passion. She also enjoyed bowling, playing pool and tennis.

As she grew older and the disease started to affect her memory, her family visited or called her often, telling her stories of old times to keep her memories fresh.

The family would like to send a special thank-you to Susan Mione, who was Gaby’s caregiver for the last years of her life. She loved you Susan, and we thank you for everything.

She is survived by: her sister, Mariette Debaugh and her husband Raymond; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Frechette and Jeanine Frechette; and her many nieces and nephews.

A service is being planned in June at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the National Alzheimer’s Association in her name at alz.org.
