Wilson’s opens with win over Sunnybrook

BATH — Wilson’s defeated Sunnybrook, 12-0 in the Bath Youth Baseball minor’s opening day game Saturday.

On the mound for Wilson’s was Chase Nicolino, striking out 10 and pitching four innings.

The offense was led by Gabe Morrison with three singles and four RBIs. Braedon Cunningham chipped in with two singles and one RBI, Eliot Harkins had two singles and Zachary Carpenter added a double.

Caleb Cousins and Elijah Wallace took the mound in Sunnybrook’s effort, recording five strikeouts. Aqil Alaboudi had the only hit of the game for Sunnybrook, a single.

Middlebury’s Caputi, Nichols recognized

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Middlebury senior women’s lacrosse player Maggie Caputi of Brunswick helped the third-ranked Panthers to a 2-0 week.

Caputi picked up two groundballs and forced a pair of turnovers in a come-from-behind 9-8 NESCAC quarterfinal win over Amherst. She also played stellar defense, including a shutdown effort in a 13-11 win over Williams.

Middlebury, the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC, plays No. 3 Bowdoin at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., on Saturday.

In outdoor track action, former Brunswick High School standout Alex Nichols helped the Panthers to a fourth-place showinginthe4x400relayattheNESCACChampionships.

Mt. Ararat JV boys lax slips past Gould

PORTLAND — Max Bodmer scored three goals and dished out an assist as the Mt. Ararat High School boys lacrosse team got past A.R. Gould, 5-4, on Monday.

Gage Palmer and Matt Lawrence chipped in one goal each for the 2-1 Eagles, while goaltender Parker Lacey had eight saves.

Playing well for Mt. Ararat was Alex Curtis, Stephen Johnson, Aaron Thurlow, Connor Ingalls and Devin Hoskins.

The Eagles visit Lewiston today.
