KENNEBUNKPORT — Madeline E. Sargent, 93 years, of Gorham, formerly of Kennebunkport, died April 29, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

Made-line was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Kenne-bunkport, a daughter of Ernest and Gertrude (Wildes) Nunan. She graduated from Kennebunkport High School in 1939 and worked for many years at Kesslen Shoe.

She married Melvin R. Sargent who preceded her in death in 1974.

For more than 20 years, Madeline volunteered for the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, knitting hats and mittens for many children in the Portland area schools.

She is preceded in death by: her brother, Donald Nunan.

Madeline is dearly missed by: her daughters, Shirley Wiggins of Gorham, and Carol Paradis of Plymouth, Massachusetts; her brother, Norman Nunan of Kennebunkport; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 2 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, where a funeral will follow at noon with Rev. Peter Beckwith. Internment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
