BERWICK — No one was hurt in an apartment building fire Saturday in the York County town of Berwick, officials said.

The two-alarm fire broke out in a second-floor apartment at 13 Merriam St. late Saturday morning. The family that lives there was not home at the time.

Other tenants made it out of the building safely.

Firefighters were able to control and extinguish the fire quickly.

Two apartments were deemed uninhabitable after the fire, the Portsmouth Herald reported. The Red Cross was contacted to help the two families find housing.
