BIDDEFORD — Bertha L. Carrier, 96, of Biddeford, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.
She was born in Fall River, Massachu-setts on July 17, 1918, the daughter of Adelard and Emelie Bernier Chouinard, and was educated in Fall River, Massachusetts schools.
She moved to the local area in 1935. On Feb. 3, 1940, she married Laurent H. Carrier in St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. He died May 31, 1981.
Mrs. Carrier worked 14 years as a nurse’s aid at the Good Shepherd Villa in Biddeford, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed doing home crafts and reading.
She is survived by: a son, Guy Carrier and his wife Anna of South Plainfield, New Jersey; two daughters, Marguerite Pinho and her husband Manuel of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, and Julienne Laverriere and her husband Jean Paul of Biddeford; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 9-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.
Memorial donations in Bertha’s name may be made to St. James School, 25 Graham St., Biddeford, ME 04005.
