Lions Club breakfast

The Cape Elizabeth Lions Club will hold a pancake breakfast on Sunday, May 10, from 7:30-11 a.m., at the old Bowery Beach Schoolhouse, located at the intersection of Two Lights and Wheeler roads.

On the menu are pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, coffee, tea and juice. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will benefit maintenance of the clubhouse and Lions Club charities.

Students offer jazz concert

A jazz group made up of students from Cape Elizabeth High School will perform on Friday, May 8, 6-8 p.m., at The Local Buzz cafe? and wine bar, located at 327 Ocean House Road.

The concert is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted and all proceeds will offset costs for the mock trial team at the high school to travel to Raleigh, N.C., for the National Mock Trial Championship.

CEHS concert set for May 11

The Cape Elizabeth High School chorus, percussion ensemble, Symphony Band and Wind Symphony will perform a concert Monday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

The groups will perform music ranging from that of Gerald Finzi to John Barnes Chance to Karl King. The Wind Symphony will reprise its recent premiere of Andrew Boysen’s “The Murderer and the Architect,” a depiction in music of the Erik Larson book “The Devil in the White City.”

Cape offers historic tours

Members of the Cape Elizabeth Historic Preservation Society will be leading bus tours of historic sites in the southern and northern portions of Cape Elizabeth from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, as part of the town’s 250th anniversary celebration.

The buses will depart from the Community Services parking lot at 343 Ocean House Road. For more information or to make reservations, call the Community Services office at 799-2868.

Walking tours feature historic Cape homes

A walking tour of Cape Elizabeth’s Delano Park, featuring several homes built by architect John Calvin Stevens, is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, as part of Cape Elizabeth’s 250th anniversary. The tour, to be led by Fort Williams Park Foundation President Bob Ayotte, will begin at 10 a.m. The tour has a limit of 40 participants. Reservations are required and can be made at the Town Hall on Wednesday, May 13, during Earle Shettleworth Jr.’s lecture about John Calvin Stevens, or by calling Bob Ayotte at 799-3649. Tour maps will also be available at the lecture or can be picked up at the Community Services office on Ocean House Road.

Shettleworth to offer lecture

In conjunction with Cape Elizabeth’s 250th anniversary celebration, State Historian Earle Shettleworth is scheduled to give a lecture about the art and architecture of John Calvin Stevens in the Cape Elizabeth Town Hall Chambers on Wednesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. Reservations are not required. In addition, through July 19, “The Paintings of John Calvin Stevens,” which features homes in Cape Elizabeth neighborhoods, will be on display at the University of New England Portland campus gallery.
