STARKS (AP) — The Maine Supreme Court has upheld the decision of a Somerset County planning board to build a long-debated cellphone tower after a lengthy appeals process.
The Morning Sentinel reports the Abijah Hill Road tower was approved by the Starks planning board in August 2013. But construction was delayed by a series of appeals filed by Harry and Cindy Brown.
The Browns, owners of property bordering the proposed site, argued the 195-foot tower would negatively impact their scenic view and posed health risks. The Browns were previously denied appeals by the Starks Board of Appeals and Somerset County Superior Court.
