KENNEBUNK — Kennebunk High School Principal Susan Cressey said the school has appealed the standing assigned to it in the recent 2015 U.S. News Best High Schools.
The report, issued earlier this week by the magazine U.S. News and World Report, shows Kennebunk High School with no ranking.
There are 118 high schools in Maine. York County schools that received a ranking includes Wells High School, which took 4th place in the state; York High school, which took 7th place; and Sanford High School, in the 17th place slot. All three earned silver medal status in the rankings.
Kennebunk High School was listed as being was above the state average in math and reading and college readiness, but was unranked.
The U.S. News and World Report listing shows Kennebunk High School as having a population of 864 students and 63 full-time teachers. Cressey said the school’s population is actually 682 students. According to information posted on the school district’s website, Kennebunk High School has 56 full-time faculty. Both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses are offered.
Cressey in an email Tuesday said the U.S. News and World Report organization is re-examining Kennebunk High School’s score.
