The New England Patriots issued a rebuttal Thursday to the Wells report, which concluded that quarterback Tom Brady and the team knowingly broke NFL rules by deflating footballs before the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Patriots’ report states that the Wells report was “at best, incomplete, incorrect” and lacked context. It specifically notes that “there is no evidence that Tom Brady preferred footballs that were lower than 12.5 psi and no evidence anyone even thought that he did.”

It also states the Wells report took text messages from Patriots employees out of context.

The report was issued by Daniel L. Goldberg, a senior partner in a Boston law firm who represents the Patriots.
