OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Gordon Warren Fenderson Sr., 85, of Smith Wheel Road, passed away on May 12, 2015 at USVA Togus.
He was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, on May 7, 1930, a son of the late Orrin “Carl” and Edith (Garland) Fenderson.
Gordon proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and served as a fighter pilot.
After returning from the service in 1954, Gordon went on to own and operate Fenderson Sanitary Service, which his father started in 1918.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Fenderson of Old Orchard Beach, Gordon Fenderson Jr. of Old Orchard Beach, Tammy Carpenter and her husband Norman of Lyman, and Linda Fenderson of Old Orchard Beach; grandson, Bryan Carpenter and his fiancée Jessica Thomas of Dayton; a great-grandson, Oliver Carpenter; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service with military honors was held privately amongst Gordon’s family at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery. Pastor Merle Mitchell officiated.
Arrangements are with Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service ”“ Bux-ton and Old Orchard Beach.
