ELLSWORTH (AP) — Testimony is continuing in the trial of Maine man charged with killing his wife on Christmas Day 2013.
The couple’s daughter and son testified Monday that defendant Christopher Saenz physically abused Hillary Saenz in the month leading up to her death in Ellsworth. The son testified that his mom had two black eyes on the day she died.
A judge is hearing testimony without a jury at the request of the defendant.
The children, ages 8 and 12 at the time, are in the care of relatives.
Prosecutors say Saenz was angry because he felt his wife was having an affair. An autopsy revealed multiple injuries including a lacerated liver, bruised lungs, fractured sternum and brain bleeding.
