BIDDEFORD — Roland L. Levasseur, 89, of Biddeford, died peacefully at home where he resided with his daughter.

He was born on March 9, 1926 to Athanase and Lena (Tremblay) Levasseur in Biddeford. He was educated in Biddeford schools.

On Sept. 4, 1948, he married Theresa L. Petrin at St. Andre’s Church. They shared 59 years together until her death on Feb. 18, 2007.

Roland worked for many years as a salesman. He started with Drakes, then Calderwood Bakeries until their closure. He then continued with Delorge’s Bakery until their closure. After that he worked at Pepperell Manufacturing Company for approximately 10 years before retiring in 1991.

He was involved in Boy Scouts and very active in volunteering in the church and local food pantry. He sang for many years in the church choir and was an avid fundraiser for restoring the organ at St. Joseph’s Church.

After the passing of his beloved wife, Theresa, he loved to dance every Sunday at the DAV with his “girls.” He loved his vegetable and flower gardens, bringing his Dahlias and roses to the girls at the bank, doctor’s office and his girls at Hannaford in Biddeford. He would go to Hannaford daily to buy a scratch ticket and talk to his lady friends.
