BATH — The Bath Iron Works squad of the Bath Cal Ripken baseball minor division captured two high-scoring victories in recent action — a 15-12 contest over Wilson’s last Tuesday and a 14- 10 showdown over Montsweag Road House on Saturday.

Against Wilson’s, Thomas Guild had four strikeouts on the hill for the first two innings, while Kiernan Mann tossed the next two, adding four more strikeouts. Wyatt Rowe closed it out, fanning a batter in the process.

Henry Kerr led the attack with three hits, while Mann, Guild and Lucas Quimby added a pair of base knocks. Isaiah Taylor, Trajen Higgans and Rowe were noted for their strong defensive efforts in the outfield.

For Wilson’s, Chase Nicolino pitched two innings with four strikeouts. Caleb Sommers and Gabe Morrison finished out the remainder, combining for five strikeouts.

Nicolino and Gabe Morrison had two hits each, while Carpenter and Sommers each added a single. Tony Brown was also credited for stellar play in right field.

On Saturday, Guild got the start once more, fanning five batters, while Mann came on in relief to strike out another seven.

Wyatt Wallace, Guild and Chase Roth-Wells each had inside-the-park home runs, with Guild’s adding to his three-hit day. Kerr contributed three hits as well for BIW, while Wallace, Quimby and Roth-Wells each had two hits. Levi Cross and Colby Dolan had stand-out games on the defensive side.

Aiden Wyman had three strikeouts over three innings for Montsweag. Dominic Hood dealt two innings of his own, whiffing four hitters, with Jonah Smith adding a strikeout in the final two innings.

Hood, Thomas MacMahan, Smith and Levi Whitney all had two hits each. Gage Barnes, David Brown, Andrew Card, Wyman and Tyler McCarren added to the Montsweag offense with one hit each.
