BATH — The Bath Middle School baseball team concluded its season, winning two games over Mt. Ararat and Lewiston. The Destroyers complete their season with an 8-4 record, winning the last five contests.

In the first game against the Eagles, Mt. Ararat plated three runs in the top of the first on singles by Hunter Lohr, Will Kavanaugh, Ben Freeman and Damon Austin.

The Destroyers answered with two runs of their own off a single from Austin Magliozzi, followed by doubles from Lukas Osterhout and Thomas Warren. Magliozzi tripled in the fourth and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at three.

BMS took advantage in the sixth on three walks, an Isaak Flaming single and a Osterhout double, leading to a 5-3 advantage and eventual final. Magliozzi pitched the first 4 2-3 innings, with Warren finishing out the rest of the way, striking out six.

Against Lewiston, the Destroyers managed to scrape out one more run than hosts, taking a 10-9 victory.

Nicco Bartone pitched five strong innings, not allowing a run and giving up two hits. However, the bullpen had trouble in the sixth, giving up four runs on singles to Cooper Millett, Hunter Hughes and Hunter Landing.

Jackson Walker singled and stole second to lead off the top of the seventh for Bath. Asa Hodgdon singled to bring in Walker for what became the winning run. Lewiston grabbed five runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Destroyers held on for the win.

Bartone, Flaming, Lucas Groat, Arius Eich and Warren all contributed to the Destroyers’ offense, with Flaming leading the way with three singles. Warren and Groat collected a double and a single each.
