AUGUSTA (AP) — A pilot program proposed by Gov. Paul LePage would allow Maine bars to stay open until 2 a.m.

Maine Public Broadcasting Network reports that the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee will hold a public hearing on the bill next week. The pilot would run this summer through Columbus Day.

Rep. Louis Luchini says he’s open to the idea but ha some reservations. He wants to hear what people have to say at the hearing.
