KENNEBUNK — John “Paul” Cowgill, 82, of Kennebunk, died peacefully on May 25, 2015, at the Mane Veteran’s Home in Scarborough.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1932 to the late John and Anne Cowgill. As a child, he attended local schools in Biddeford and graduated from Kennebunk High School with the Class of 1951.

Paul served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, where he was stationed in San Diego, California.

Following his discharge from the U.S. Navy, John was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years as a shipwright and took early retirement in 1986.

During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Marjorie, attending church services at Christ Episcopal Church in Biddeford, visiting with family and friends and being outdoors.

John is preceded in death by: his wife, Marjorie; and his sister, Anne Temm of Arundel.

He is survived by: his three daughters, Terry Perkins of Arundel, Debra Miller of Kennebunk, and Lisa Daggett and her husband Tony of Kennebunk; his brother, Bert Cowgill of Arundel; and two grandchildren, Ashley Perkins of Wellington, Florida, and Derek Henry of Kennebunk.

A private service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in West Kennebunk.
