FREEPORT — Emily Johnson and Taylor Rinaldi split eight goals down the middle to lead the Freeport High School girls lacrosse team to a 15-8 non-conference victory over Gould Academy on Friday.
After an 0-4 start, the Falcons have won six straight to improve to 6-4. Freeport visits Falmouth tonight at 6:30 p.m.
Both Johnson and Rinaldi added an assist each, while Lizzie Martin and Lily Johnston had two goals apiece.
Julia Getman had three goals and a helper for the Huskies (6-6).
Boys lacrosse
Messalonskee started strong, darting out to a 12-3 halftime lead en route to a 14-6 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference over Mt. Ararat at Topsham on Friday.
Mt. Ararat fell to 4-7 and visits Gardiner in its regular season finale on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Messalonskee, which pushed undefeated Brunswick on Wednesday in a 17-13 loss, improved to 7-4.
The visitors took a 7-1 lead after a quarter. Will Weeks had there goals and one assist in the win, with Dylan Jones and Connor Smith adding two goals and an assist apiece. Austin Pelletier picked up four goals, while Dylan Burton dished out two helpers.
Elija Tuell had nine saves.
For Mt. Ararat, which outscored Messalonskee 3-2 in the second half, Elliot Pressman picked up two goals, Kyle Lussier a goal and two assists, Ben Bishop and Kellen Radulski a goal and an assist each, and Jake Schoenberg tallied a goal.
Mt. Ararat goaltender Charlie Gill turned away nine shots.
