NORTH BERWICK — The Thornton Academy boys and girls track and field squads put on quite a show on Saturday as the Golden Trojans ran away with both SMAA Southwestern Championships at Noble High School.
The Thornton girls used three wins from Alex Hart and two from Tori Daigle to cruise to the crown.
Hart won the 100, 200 and 400 meters on Saturday, while Daigle captured both the long jump and triple jump titles.
Thornton’s other win came from Victoria Lux, who won the discus event.
Massabesic would get a pair of individual wins as Mariah Biener won the high jump and Kym Hendrix won the javelin.
On the boys’ side, the Trojans picked up three individual wins and two relay victories to beat second-place Scarborough by 18 points.
Derek Boissonault won the 100 meters for TA, which also got wins from Dylan Smith in the 200 and Tyler Lebel in the 800.
The Trojans also won the 400 relay and the 1,600 relay.
Biddeford’s Justin Gagnon captured the gold in the 110 hurdles and was second in the long jump and third in the triple jump.
Sanford’s Pete Hegarty won the pole vault as he broke the meet record with a 13-3 1/4. Hegarty broke the record of a former Sanford athlete, Ben Murray, who had set the mark back in 1996.
Massabesic would get a win from Michael Aboud, who finished first in the 3,200 meters.
