On Tuesday, June 9, voters in Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough and South Portland will head to the polls in their respective school budget referendums as follows:
• Cape Elizabeth
The school budget, as approved by the Town Council, is $23.5 million for fiscal year 2015-2016. If this spending package were approved, residents would see a 32-cent increase in the tax rate, when combined with the previously approved municipal and county budgets.
The polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. at Cape Elizabeth High School. Contact the Town Clerk’s office at 799-7665 for more information, including registering to vote.
• Scarborough
Residents are being asked to approve a nearly $46.8 million school budget, which would raise taxes by 87 cents when combined with the previously approved municipal and county spending.
The polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. in the Council Chambers at
Town Hall. Call the Town Clerk’s office at 730-4020 for more information, including registering to vote.
• South Portland
The proposed school budget is nearly $46.1 million, which if approved would raise taxes by an estimated tax 42 cents per $1,000 of valuation. The City Council has yet to vote on the municipal budget for the new fiscal year.
The polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Community Center, located at 21 Nelson Road. Call the City Clerk’s office at 767-7601 for more information, including registering to vote.
