Hird receives Yarosewick Family Education Award
KEENE, N.H. — Caroline Hird of York was recently honored by Keene State College with the Yarosewick Family Education Award. This award was created by Mary-Lou S. Yarosewick to recognize outstanding students who are pursuing a teaching career in elementary or early childhood education and are devoted to community service.

Gillian Foss graduates from Marist College

Providence College awards undergraduate degrees
PROVIDENCE, R. Katherine Leavitt to study in Baja
OXFORD, Ohio — Eliot resident Katherine Leavitt, a master’s student in the Global Field Program from Miami University’s Project Dragonfly, will travel to Baja in summer 2015. Leavitt will study the diverse desert and marine landscapes of two richly diverse biosphere reserves through ecological and social field methods.

Fournier earns master’s degree
BIDDEFORD — Marcy Helene Fournier of Biddeford recently received her master’s degree in education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction from New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire with a 4.0 GPA. Miss Fournier received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2003 and has been teaching for 12 years. She has taught at Saint Thomas School in Sanford and is currently the second-grade teacher at Saint James School in Biddeford. Miss Fournier is the daughter of Marc and Helen Fournier, also of Biddeford.

Local student named to York College of Pennsylvania dean’s list
YORK, Pa. — Emma Frazier, a junior from Lebanon, majoring in early elementary/special education at York College of Pennsylvania, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.
Scontras named to dean’s list
WALTHAM, Mass. — Jennifer Mary Scontras, daughter of Stanley and Mary Scontras of Saco, was named to the fall 2014 dean’s list at Brandeis University. Jennifer is a graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco, Class of 2011. She is a senior, majoring in neuroscience and biology with a minor in classical studies. She is applying to medical school.
Jennifer is a certified EMT in Maine and Massachusetts. At Brandeis, she was elected as director of operations of the university’s campus Emergency Services. As such, she is responsible for personnel management, medical operations, organizational oversight and she interacts with the campus medical director.
Jennifer is also a volunteer with Kennebunkport EMS when she is in Maine.
She is a teaching assistant in lab classes. She also arranges music and sings in the campus acapella group, Rather Be Giraffes.
CMCC dean’s list announced
