The Howard Vandersea Maine Chapter of the National Football Foundation will honor Springvale native Adam Cote, a former Colby football player and veteran of two tours in the Middle East, with its Distinguished American Award at its scholar-athlete banquet Wednesday.

Other award winners include Frank Knight of Waterville High, Contribution to Amateur Football; Dennis Barrett, Football Official Recognition Award; and Alex Rotsko of Marshwood High, High School Coach of the Year.

The Seacoast United U13 boys’ premier soccer team won the USS Constitution Division of the Needham Memorial Day Tournament in Needham, Massachusetts.

The Topsham-based Mariners went 3-0 in pool play, then defeated the GPS New York Knights 4-0 in the semifinals and Lincoln FC of Massachusetts 4-3 in penalty kicks after playing to a scoreless tie in the final.

Gregg Frame aced the fifth hole at Purpoodock Club on May 22. He used a 5-iron on the 182-yard shot, witnessed by Eddie Galvin, Mike Galvin and Gill Hagan.

Barbara Freeman made a hole-in-one on the fifth hole at Purpoodock Club on June 4. Freeman used a 5-wood for the 166-yard shot, which was witnessed by Jean Farrell and Bea McGarvey.

Stephanie Babin used a pitching wedge to ace the 10th hole at Biddeford-Saco Country Club on June 7. Mary Pirkola, Bernice Vadais and Patty Good witnessed the shot.
