Pictured Monday, a Friendship sloop is delivered to The Boat Shed Project at Pepperell Square, Saco. The sloop was delivered from Jonesport. It is 85 percent completed and made from locally sourced wood, according to Boat Shed Project Founder Scot Arthur. The boat will be completed and used for educational excursions. The Friendship sloop was developed in the late 1800s to accommodate the lobstering and fishing business in Maine, according to a written history by Friendship Sloop Society Historian Betty Roberts. “They’re totally Maine,” said Arthur.
