A Windham man escaped serious injury Thursday when he drove his sport utility vehicle onto a construction trailer that was parked along Nash Road in Windham.

Windham police, who posted a photograph of the unusual accident on the department’s Facebook page, said Roger Hanson, 82, was driving west on Nash Road around 2:20 p.m. when he drove onto a parked trailer that was attached to a paving company’s dump truck.

The photographs show that Hanson’s vehicle went over the flat surface of the trailer before ending up in a precarious, tilted position on the edge of the trailer.

Though Hanson said he was not injured, he was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland as a precaution. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
