The Morse High School faculty and staff join Principal John Pinkerton in recognizing the academic achievement of members of the Class of 2015. Graduation ceremonies for Morse will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14.

The following students are being recognized for their achievements:

Valedictorian Balthasar Von Huene

resides in Arrowsic with his parents Andreas Von Huene and Katherine Mend-Von Huene. As an AP Scholar, Balt has received the Princeton Book Award, the DAR Award, and various academic excellence awards for outstanding achievement.

KARA LEAVITT
KARA LEAVITT
He is a member of National Honor Society and participates on the debate team. He also participates in track, cross country, floor hockey, stage crew, theater, student government, Habitat for Humanity 5K, and Tri-County Literacy. Balt enjoys listening to Russian music, playing the jaws harp and walking along Sasanoa River. His plan after graduation is to attend a four year college in New England majoring in English or Communications. Balt’s hopes and dreams for the future include learning foreign languages and traveling internationally.

resides in Bath with her parents Kent and Vanessa Leavitt. Kara has been named an AP Scholar and has received numerous academic excellence awards. She is a member of National Honor Society, Interact Club, RSU #1 School Board student representative, and the Teen Library Council. Kara volunteers her time at the Androscoggin Animal Hospital, Coastal Humane Society and various events with Interact, such as cleaning up the town. She enjoys reading, cooking, watching hockey, and making latch hook rugs in her free time. Kara plans to attend Tufts University to major in Biology to become a veterinarian. Her hopes and dreams for the future include becoming a quality veterinarian and making a difference in any way that she can.

First Honor Essayist Kimberly Crowley

resides in Phippsburg with her parents Lori and Steve Nash. She has received numerous awards including Student of the Quarter and the Scholastic Writing Awards Gold Key. Kimberly participates in Amnesty International, Journalism Club, Green Club and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is employed by Target in Topsham. In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys reading, writing (poetry, fiction, etc.), playing guitar, singing and hanging out with family and friends. She plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to study International Affairs and/or Journalism. Her hopes and dreams for the future include having a career that involves traveling, writing and helping others; eventually leading to world domination, etc.

resides in Bath with her parents Susan Horowitz and Robert Gersh. She is the recipient of the Maine Principal’s Award, Semper Fidelis Award, Smith College Book Award and has received many academic and musical awards for outstanding achievement. Shira is a member of National Honor Society and participates in field hockey, lacrosse, jazz band, floor hockey, MOHIBA, District III and All-State Honors Band, and orchestras. She has volunteered her time at the Hebrew School, Bowdoin International Music Festival, band camp, band student teaching at Bath Middle School, Wescustago Youth Chorale, and ushering Vox Nova Chamizer choir concerts. She enjoys cross country skiing, ice skating, watching Netflix, and singing and playing music. Shira plans to attend college and go on a birthright trip to Israel. Her hope and dream for the future is to play the French horn in an orchestra somewhere, taking over the world.

Third Honor Essayist Thomas Brown resides in Phippsburg with his parents Tom and Judy Brown. Thomas has received the St. Anselm College Book Award and excellence awards in Honors Chemistry, Honors US History and Algebra II. Thomas participates in varsity baseball and varsity football, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Thomas has volunteered at St. Charles and St. Peter’s Church and also helps the disabled with home repairs. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports, hanging out with his friends and watching television. Thomas plans to attend college in the fall to study Economics and Finance. His hopes and dreams for the future include doing well in college and eventually going on to get an MBA.

Andrew Ceglinski

resides in Bath with his parents Daniel and Amelia Ceglinski. He is the recipient of the Yale Book Award and has received various subject awards for outstanding achievement. Andrew is a member of National Honor Society, participates on the Long Reach Swim Club and the Morse Swim Team. He volunteers his time by coaching swim team and National Honor Society activities. Andrew is employed by the Bath YMCA. He enjoys reading books and articles online, watching Netflix, and meditating. Andrew plans to attend Colorado College, possibly deferring to work on an organic farm in New Zealand. His hope and dream for the future is to die with no regrets.

Carl Suter

resides in Bath with his parents Michael and Rebecca Suter. He is the recipient of the Elmira Key Award and has received various subject awards for outstanding achievement. Carl is a member of the National Honor Society and participates on the Morse High School Drama Stage Crew. He volunteers his time with Seeds of Independence. Carl is employed by River Bottom Video. In his free time he enjoys snowboarding and playing music. Carl plans to attend college, ultimately going for a doctorate in Psychology, minoring in Music. His hopes and dreams for the future include having a successful college career obtaining a Masters or PHD in Psychology.

David Rice

resides in Bath with his parents Tom and Julie Rice. He is the recipient of the Williams Book Award, Maine Model U.N. Diplomacy Award, and National Speech and Debate Association Order of Distinction. David has been a high honors student and received various academic awards for outstanding achievement and is a member of National Honor Society, Debate Team, and Model U.N. David participates on the lacrosse team. He is employed by Maine Maritime Museum. David volunteers his time at the Maine Maritime Museum and the Patten Free Library Teen Council. In his free time he enjoys practicing martial arts, reading the paper, and cooking up some lunch. David plans to attend the Maine Maritime Academy to study Marine Transportation Operations. His hopes and dreams for the future include traveling and working on ships.

Morgan Quigg

resides in West Bath with her parents Rebecca and Michael Quigg, restaurant owners. She has received the Wellesley College Award and various academic awards for outstanding achievement. Morgan has been an honor roll student all four years and is a member of the National Honor Society. She participates on the cross country team, track, Morse Drama, stage crew, journalism, Amnesty International, school playwright, and the Green Club. Morgan has volunteered her time with the Art Van for four years. She is employed by Beal Street Barbeque. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, swimming, yoga, writing, playing music, and singing. Morgan plans to attend college, hopefully Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec to major in Playwriting. Her hopes and dreams for the future include having a career in writing, particularly as an author of novels.

Marissa Nash

resides in Phippsburg with her parents Lori and Steve Nash. She has been an honor roll student and received various subject awards for outstanding achievement. Marissa participates on Amnesty International, jour nalism, and green club. She is employed by Dot’s Ice Cream and has volunteered her time at Cubby Pre- School, Write for Rights and a clothing closet. She enjoys reading and listening to music. Marissa plans to attend college in the fall to major in Psychology. Her hope and dream for the future is to own a condo by the time she is 25 years old.
