READING, Pa. — Justin Haley pitched six innings of shutout ball as the Portland Sea Dogs stymied Reading in a 3-0 victory Friday night.
Haley scattered five hits while striking out one batter and walking two to earn just his second win of the season.
Fightin Phils starter Mark Leiter pitched seven innings but suffered the loss, as the Sea Dogs scored single runs in the second, third and seventh innings.
David Chester hit his fifth home run of the season to put Portland on the board in the second. Aneury Tavarez led off the top of the third with one of the eight Sea Dogs hits off of Leiter, then scored three batters later on a Jantzen Witte RBI groundout.
Tavarez later drove in the final run of the game, as he brought home Keury De La Cruz with a one-out single.
