SACO — Remi Gaetjen struck out five while limiting Fayette-Staples to three hits and no walks Saturday during Massabesic’s five-inning 11-0 mercy-rule victory in Saco.

Conor Purvis scored on Ben Lambert’s two-out shot over the right fielder’s head in the bottom of the 11th to give Fayette-Staples (1-1) a 5-4 win in the second game of the doubleheader.

Noah Eichler had three hits, scored three times and drove home two runs for Massabesic (1-1) in the opener. Sean Adams added a home run.

In Game 2, Adams scored in the top of the 11th to give Massabesic a 4-3 lead. But Michael Kowash’s infield single with the bases loaded tied the game in the bottom of the 11th before Lambert won it with his hit to deep right.

SACO-BIDDEFORD SAVINGS, WELLS POST 143 SPLIT: Jordan Cluff hit an RBI single and Shawn Ramsey added a three-run double during a seven-run fourth inning for Wells Post 143 (1-1) in an 11-6 win over Saco-Biddeford Savings (1-1) in the opener of a doubleheader at Wells.

In the second game, Shane Welch hit an RBI double in the top of the third inning and scored the eventual winning run on an error as Saco-Biddeford Savings earned a split with a 3-1 victory.

OA YARMOUTH 19, LIBBY-MITCHELL 9: OA Yarmouth scored 17 runs over the final six innings to erase a 7-2 deficit in a win over Libby-Mitchell (0-1) at Scarborough.

Matt Denison had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs for Libby-Mitchell.

LIBBY-MITCHELL 12, YANKEE FORD 3: Brendan Kane hit a two-run double during a nine-run sixth inning as Libby-Mitchell (1-1) pulled away from Yankee Ford at Scarborough.

Mitchell Wedge did not allow an earned run and scattered seven hits while throwing a complete game for Libby-Mitchell.

NOBLE, BONANZA OF SANFORD SPLIT: Caleb Chamblers allowed one hit and struck out 15 in seven innings, and Ryan Strate and Dalton Megher rapped two hits each to lead Noble (1-1) to a 6-0 victory during the first game of a doubleheader in Sanford.

Bonanza (1-1) bounced back with a 7-4 win. Brad Bouchard singled home James Roche and Tyler Flayhan in the bottom of the fifth to give Bonanza a 5-3 lead.


BRUNO’S 9, BONNY EAGLE 3: Jake Hunnewell and Sam Segal each hit an RBI single during a six-run third inning for Bruno’s (3-1) in a win over Bonny Eagle at Deering Oaks.

Hunnewell finished with two hits and was the lone repeat hitter for Bruno’s.

YANKEE FORD 15, FAYETTE STAPLES 6: Griffin Watson knocked in six runs with three hits and scored twice to lead Yankee Ford (3-1) past Fayette-Staples (0-4) in Portland.
