KINGS GRANT, PANTHER POND, RAYMOND – This private association’s acres were once the site of Pine Grove Farm, which later became a family-run resort. Today, there are relatively few homes in the neighborhood, but plenty of amenities: a nine-hole golf course; a handsome, shingled barn, renovated for functions and indoor games; open, level recreation land, with wonderful views; and best of all, 500 feet on Panther Pond (which is actually a lake) that includes a long strip of sandy beach, and a deck.

This oversized Cape occupies a prime spot – second-closest to the water –  and offers river frontage, too, with 73.5 feet on Hayden Brook, along the back of the property. Positioned for maximum enjoyment of its setting, the 2,586-square-foot lakeside home has a floor plan that is partly classic Cape, e.g. a formal dining room and a big living room (with brick, wood-burning fireplace) flanking the broad center hall.

But there’s so much that’s different, too, such as the enclosed porch. Lined with built-in bookshelves, the hall is practically a library. The first-floor bedroom is actually a master suite, for one-level living if desired.

And at the back of the house, which gets great sun, is a carpeted family room with gas stove, and full-view doors out to the patio, and a true haven of a back yard. A short path through the trees leads to the broad brook. On one side the family room is open to the long, dine-in kitchen, which has an abundance of cabinetry and counter space, and cool, tile, floral-patterned backsplashes.

Upstairs, around the center, full bath, the bedrooms are large indeed, and have walk-in closets; so does the two-skylight front room, which is nicely set up as an office. One bedroom’s big walk-in with built-ins opens into yet another walk-in, inviting the possibility of creating a second master or guest suite.

The huge, full basement has tons of workshop and storage space, and there’s plenty more walkup storage above the direct-entry garage and the kitchen wing.
