One of the top-rated prospects for the Boston Red Sox has been promoted to the Portland Sea Dogs, the team announced Monday.

Outfielder Manuel Margot is joining the team Monday in Reading, Pennsylvania, and is expected to make his Double-A debut against the Fightin Phils.

Margot, 20, is considered the seventh-best Red Sox prospect, according to Baseball America. The publication also ranked him 72nd among all prospects in baseball.

Margot was batting .282 with advanced Class A Salem, with a .321 on-base percentage and .420 slugging average. He hit three home runs and stole 20 bases in 46 games. He missed three weeks in May with a shoulder injury.

His defense is similar to that of renowned fielder Jackie Bradley Jr., according to Darren Fenster, who managed Margot last year in Class A Greenville.

“Manny has that kind of instinct,” Fenster told the Press Herald earlier this season. “The ball is hit and he’s there. He can really track the ball down.”
