SANFORD — James Bunn, Zachary Burger and Hector Gutierrez had three hits apiece Wednesday night to lead the Danbury Westerners to a 7-5 victory against the Sanford Mainers in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game at Goodall Park.

Bunn gave the Westerners (2-13) the lead for good with a two-run single in the eighth inning.

The Mainers (6-8) rallied in the ninth. Shaine Hughes walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Chris Gaetano. Dan Hetzel reached on a fielder’s choice and moved to second on a single by Robbie Knightes.

Reliever Denis Lyman entered and struck out Johnny Slater for the second out. Pinch-hitter Harrison Wenson walked to load the bases before David Schanz flied out to left for the final out.

The Westerners got single runs in the first and second innings on a single by Matt Davis and a double by Cody Aker.

Danbury went ahead 4-0 on hits by Frank Maldonado and Trey West in the fifth.

Sanford got its first two runs in the sixth. Gaetano came home on a wild pitch and Hetzel scored on a groundout. Burger scored on a groundout in the seventh to give Danbury a 5-2 lead.

The Mainers added two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a throwing error.

ROAD CITY 10, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 8: Joe Coyne and Tyler Krobetzky each hit a three-run homer, but the Surge lost to the Explorers at Old Orchard Beach.

Krobetzky hit his first of the season in the third to put the Surge ahead 4-3. Coyne accounted for the final runs in the ninth.

Chris Williams hit an RBI double and Sam DiMatteo had an RBI single for the Surge (5-10).

The Explorers (14-6) have won 10 straight games.

AMERICAN LEGION

MORRILL POST 15, LIBBY-MITCHELL 7: Jacob Brown had two hits with four RBI to help Morrill Post (1-0) build an early lead and defeat Libby-Mitchell (1-2) at Scarborough.

Brown hit a two-run single during a four-run second inning that gave Morrill a 9-3 lead. Brown also hit a two-run double in the sixth when Morrill went ahead 13-6.

Anthony DeGifico and Drew Abramson each drove in three runs for Morrill.

Tim Brigham had two hits, an RBI and three runs for Libby- Mitchell. Brendan Kane also had two hits.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE

THE EDGE ACADEMY 1, AERO HEATING AND VENTILATING 0: Ellison Etnier pitched the final three innings for the win and The Edge Academy (2-5) made the most of its three hits in a victory against Aero Heating and Ventilating (5-2) at Standish.

Etnier struck out one while holding Aero hitless.

LENDERS NETWORK 9, PATRIOT INSURANCE 0: Matt Verrier had two hits with two runs and Lenders Network (6-1) used three multiple-run rallies over three consecutive innings to beat Patriot Insurance (1-6) at South Portland.

Tyler Flaherty singled in two runs in the second for Lenders, which scored three runs in the third and two in the fourth.
