High energy DJs Raymond and Susan Dupuis have been holding hula hoop parties at the Windham Summerfest for the past three years, and this year’s event on Saturday will be no different.

From 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on June 27, the high-octane couple, who have ties to Windham, will lead a dance party at the Windham High School grounds, with plenty of hula-hooping and limbos, as well as instruction in the “Cupid Shuffle.”

“We get the party pumpin’,” said Raymond Dupuis. “What I remember from Summerfest, people get involved. We have over 100 hula hoops and we don’t have enough.”

In the intervening 12 months between Summerfests, the Dupuis’, who go by the stage name Flamin’ Raymin and Sizzlin’ Suzzin, keep many dance parties hopping.

“We actually go to the edge of the earth,” said Raymond Dupuis. “We go down to Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut wherever they want to party. We go to the edge of the world, because Susan and I live on the edge.”

Flamin’ Raymin and Sizzlin’ Suzzin have been working the year-round Lakes Region dance party circuit together for 20 years, according to Raymond Dupuis, teaching line dancing, country, hip hop, and other interactive dancing at a wide variety of functions.

“We do it a few times a week,” he said. “We work for a lot of different campgrounds around, private parties, beach parties, block parties and theme parties.”

Raymond, a Portland native and former full-time carpenter, and Susan, a Windham native and former house cleaner, married 11 years ago. Susan is a Windham High School graduate and has two daughters.

“We got into it because we like instructing and teaching people to dance and have a good time,” Raymond Dupuis said. “It’s an audience participation type of a show and we teach them dancing.”

The duo works several parties every week, all year round. Asked how he summons the energy to keep the party going so reliably, Raymond Dupuis said, “It’s a gift from God. It definitely is.”

“I love what I do,” he said. “All we need is people.”
