RAYMOND
A 52-year-old Maine man is dead after more than 60 percent of his body was burned when he fell into his backyard fire pit.
State officials say Timothy Small, of Raymond, died Sunday evening at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Investigators say Small was drinking with friends Friday night around his rock-lined fire pit. They say he was alone early Saturday when he fell into the fire.
Officials say he refused medical attention and went to bed. Friends staying in the home called for an ambulance a few hours later.
He was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland before being transferred to Boston.
