BIDDEFORD — Raymond C. Gaudette Sr., 78, of Biddeford, died Friday, July 2, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born Oct. 13, 1936 in Biddeford, a son of Laurent and Rolande (Lemieux) Gaudette, and attended Biddeford Schools.

On Sept. 15, 1956, he married Yvette Danis at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

Raymond had been employed for 43 years with West Point Stevens (formerly Pepperell Mfg.) as a chemical and dye mixer. He had retired in 1999.

He was a member of the Franco-American Genealogical Society and the Biddeford Historical Society, serving as president for two terms. Raymond was a member and past president of the York County Genealogical Society of Franco-Americans. At West Point Stevens he had served as shop steward and had been a past president of the local AFL-CIO. He was on the Biddeford City Council in 1968 and 1969 with Mayor Lemire and had been a board member of the Laconia Credit Union.

Raymond was devoted to helping others, especially in researching their genealogy. He enjoyed spending time with his family and following the sporting events of his grandchildren. At his daughter’s day care he was a regular visitor and was known by all the children as pepere.

Raymond is preceded in death: by a sister, Georgette McKenney; a half-brother, George Dubois; and two brothers, Paul and Conrad Gaudette.

He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Yvette Gaudette of Biddeford; a son, Raymond Gaudette Jr. of Old Orchard Beach; a daughter, Leslie St. Ours and her husband Steve of Biddeford; grandchildren, Kelsey St. Ours, and Steven St. Ours, both of Biddeford; a brother, Robert Gaudette of Biddeford; and nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A private graveside service will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
