Frank Patten of Patten’s Farm has been working in the family business since he was 12 – “Too many years to count,” Patten, 55, said. “It’s rewarding to get to see what you’ve been working on for months, especially when it’s a good season like this when the strawberries are everywhere.” The farm, which has been in business for more than 60 years and has locations in Gorham and Kennebunkport, provides seedlings and produce. Patten’s strawberry season just ended, but customers can pick their own peas at the Gorham location. In the fall, Patten’s offers apples and pumpkins. The only downside, according to Patten: “Weeding and the long hours.”
