LYMAN — The 2015 Summer Reading Program at the Lyman Community Library is in full swing. It which includes the introduction of three new library merit badges ”“ farms, mystery, and heroes ”“ earned through a combination of reading and completing projects.

Participants can work to earn last year’s badges or forget the badges and simply make a reading goal and use the library bulletin board to update progress. All reading participants are eligible to win one of three themed door prizes, and can enter the drawings on every visit to the library, up to once per day. Badges will be awarded and raffles will be drawn at the Ice Cream Social and Award Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 am.

Some of the activities and programs planned for July and August include:

Saturday, July 18, 10:30 a.m., Storytime with Farmer Minor where the farmer tells farm stories, and brings Daisy the pig and her pug pals; Friday, July 24, 3 p.m. with a visit from Goodwin’s Mills Fire & Rescue; Friday, Aug. 14, 8 p.m., the Community Library Star Party will feature real live astronomers and will be held at Starfield Observatory; and there will be free movie screenings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 10:30 a.m.
