SPRINGVALE — Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission has been awarded a $70,000 grant to develop and implement a comprehensive economic development strategy.
U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King made the announcement in a joing statement on Wednesday afternoon. Southern Maine Planning and Development Commisison’s grant award from the federal Economic Development Commisison is one of two awarded – the Greater Portland Council of Governments also won a $70,000 grant for the same purpose.
“These key investments will bring together both the public and private sectors to bolster job creation, support private investment, and strengthen our regional economies,” said Senators Collins and King.
The EDA planning investment grant is aimed at establishing an economic development framework, process, and strategy to support private capital investment and job creation in the two regions.
